That's a rich rumor from briefing.com. Who would China Unicom sell the CDMA network to - just another state sponsored company!

It makes no difference. The Chinese see that to handle the growing use and to gain expertise for indigenous producers, CDMA is the only choice.

Until CDMA shows a clear advantage, people will remain with their current provider. That's the way it is. Japan is showing what can happen in a market where a clearly superior product is available. The question is: "How long until each CDMA market develops to the point of clear advantage?" Given the investment climate, I think it will be longer than most of us would prefer.
