Very OT/Aktony. Have both Hamilton books in the bookcase. Been a long time since I read them though. Gibbon, Spengler and Toynbee also have a lot to say on the subject. A less well known author, but also a very good one, is Joseph Dahmus. Recently finished his book, A History Of The Middle Ages which has lengthy and excellent analysis of how Imperial Rome brought about it's own demise. AFA becoming politically involved to clean things up today? Think you have to take a long look at the odds of success vs the mega trends that determine the rise and fall of civilizations and where America stands on that path. Too bad we don't have more time to discuss such things. But that's all I can add today. Regards, Isopatch
