I seem to have ruffled some feathers over on the BEAM thread. I seem to be in the minority when it comes to opposing LASIK vs PRK. That's one thing that bothers me about LVCI: board member Lindstrom seems to be a "LASIK cowboy". I read an interview between him and other eminent opthalmologists on SLACK, I believe, some time ago. His attitude about doing LASIK troubled me, though he was in the minority. His credentials are impressive, but I dislike his preference for such a relatively risky incisional procedure like LASIK.

Isn't the point of laser vision correction supposed to be the creation of a huge mass market for quick, fabulous, permanent vision correction, without the need for incisions? I hope LASIK dies like RK, but unfortunately, the media is enthralled with it.

For those interested in risks of LASIK, read "BEYOND GLASSES! The Consumer Guide to Laser Vision Correction" by Franette Armstrong, U.C. Books. Good discussion among many PRK/LASIK pioneers about risks/benefits.
