You said....." I have not gotten a good answer from anyone to the question of what the Palestinians should do.".... What they should have done years ago. First get rid of arafat and any other known terrorist...Put away all the guns and bombs and work out a peace deal with Israel. If they do this they would likely have the support of most of the world. Simple, common sense. Oh yes, and try to figure out how to turn off the religious hatred.
