i was fortunate at least as a young person i had no clue about my mothers drinking problem, and quite honestly, it didn't become extremely problematic until i had left home..but even the adult "child" of an alcoholic can find themselves in the role of caregiver or enabler depending on the pov....

i had a lot of anger toward my mom for several years because of that, it wasn't until i "detached" that i was able to accept her and love her again just as she was.

i'm really glad that happened before her death.
