That's a troubling story. I hope the parents can be both objective about their daughter's needs, and yet strong enough to stand up to the "experts" if necessary. We found that very hard to do when ours would run crosswise to the system. It's so easy to feel intimidated, and you are so frightened that something really might not be NORMAL. Now, years later, I can be grateful mine weren't normal- at least the kind of normal that was seen as desirable by schools.

Our boys march to very different drummers-
I think one actually is listening to a Mongolian Throat Singer, and the other swaying to a Javanese Gamelan orchestra.
