There was no vxn. But I know the vix got over 172 in Oct. 1987. If "everyone" is looking at sentiment indicators to tell us when the bottom is, then we probably don't get a good bottom. We probably get "a" bottom that traders only want to trade or shorts want to cover at. Seems to me that valuations aren't as good now as they were in Sept since earnings estimates have come down even more and growth rates reduced with "the recovery" pushed even farther out. TA
