How can QCOM stay near $30? 06/18/02 How can QCOM sustain the price level while its major customers like Sprint PCS stock price drop to $4 from $30 in 9 months, bonds being downgrade to junk status, facing serious survival problems? Business is so simple, you make money from your customers. If all your major customers are having tough time to meet debt payment and survive, you know you are in big trouble. Those wireless providers will have no money to buy/upgrade equipment in the next 1-2 years. The handset business is saturated too as the shoe-shine guy already got a cell phone. The highly touted data/web-surfing on cell phone is a pipe dream (I personally think). How many people would surf the web on the small cell phone screen? or writing email on that? Not many. I am surprised to see QCOM management is still so confident (in public) about their previous estimates, they better warn ASAP to avoid tons of lawsuits if they are selling shares now. We will know what they are doing later in their SEC filing. QCOM is the leader in wireless and many people just buy and hold, that's probably why it is outperforming in the wireless sector. I believe their technology is advanced but they don't have "Killer Applications" for people to pay. Technology is not that relevant in such tough business environment. I personally think QCOM will go to teens in the next 6-12 months. -------------------------------------------- Investing in stock market contains big risk. Do your own research before buy or sell.
