<<Apocalyptic stuff. But Mr. Phillips has an impressive track record as a political visionary. What if he's right?>>

I first heard of his brilliantly superb masterpiece of a tome called "wealth and democracy" on bill moyers' NOW program one month ago. have not finished reading it but the interview he gave to moyers was an absolute MUST SEE! I'll try to get a transcript and post it here. he zeroes in on the bush family and their ties to--among other things--enron. at one point bill asked him what was the biggest change he'd witnessed in washington over the past 30 years. it was eerie.....I felt like he was reading my mind...."the entrenched wealth and power" he stated. I use that expression constantly but to hear him boldly declare that the wealthy/super-rich WAGED WAR ON EVERYONE ELSE (SO AS TO USURP EVERY ONCE OF WEALTH AND POWER FOR THEMSELVES) AND WON THE WAR, WAS ALL THE CONFIRMATION I NEEDED TO SUPPORT MY OWN THESES. the book is a detailed and thoroughly well-researched affirmation of the foregoing as TRUTH and serves as irrefutable proof--especially given the fact that the author is a gop republican--QUAD ERAT DEMONSTRADUM indeed!

my only criticism is with the title itself ..... there is NO DEMOCRACY, it is a redundant, antiquated, impractical, obsolete, naive notion that serves to quell and assuage the masses and tranquilize them into complacency, acceptance and inaction with the belief that "their votes count". elections are bought...and whether it's old money gops or new money/hollywood dems, whatever party assumes the reins of power is DICTATORIAL for the years they govern.

since winning the war, the wealthy/super-rich proprietors of infinite wealth (and power) are laughing at the plight of everyone they financially plundered and raped--whether it was by eliminating millions of jobs through automation/ tech or via wall steet/investment banks who were in bed with the insiders/corp execs. the ugly, brute facts are ubiquitous and the end result is the same. trillions lost, corporate scandals, white collar crime aplently, wall street corruption considered normal, etc. and THE ECONOMY in shambles. yet through it all, the entrenchment of their wealth and power continues to solidify and grow...after all how much more proof do you need...dubya won the birth lottery and harvard was in dad's pocket. there are many, many more family dynasties who can and DO buy whatever education jr. needs on his/her resume. I'm told that the new abc-tv show "the hamptons" drives this nauseatingly repulsive point home in the most realistic of ways! fact is, for those not fortunate enough to have spent 9 months in a "womb with a view" education is/was supposed to be the one and only hope of escaping the ghetto. hah!....another naive notion....like democracy itself. KEVIN PHILLIPS IS DEAD ON...! RUN...DON'T WALK TO YOUR NEAREST BOOKSTORE AND check it out. METHINKS THE REVOLUTION IS LONG OVERDUE!
