Yes, we moved to Brushes with Greatness. I have had many. I touched Hubert Humphrey when he was on a campaign appearance. I met Pearl Bailey when her husband, Louie Belsen, was doing a turn as a guest soloist with the Navy Band. I met Carol Channing when she took "Lorelei" on the road. I have spoken with Mortimer Adler, Robert Bork, William Kristol, Charles Murray, Henry Hyde, and a number of other people. I have been in restaurants and other venues, or in a line, with Dabney Coleman, Sean Connery, Elizabeth Taylor, and Michael York. A friend of mine worked for Newt Gingrich. Other friends have clerked with various Supreme Court justices. My mother and one of my brothers have met Robert Urich, Charles Durning, Rita Moreno, and other stars at plays and other performances in Washington. My father has a signed thank you from Everett Dirksen, for a printing job he did for his office. One of my brothers had an autograph from Katherine Hepburn, but foolishly sold it. I met Ahmet Ertegun, who founded Atlantic Records; Jack Holzmann, who founded Elektra/Asylum Records; and Gene Thaw, who was one of the great art dealers and museum contributors in New York.......... |
