Anything is possible when greed is involved, but the open interest on the calls represents only 31,300 shares, 10% of average volume and hardly enough to interest an institution. Institutions hold about 15M shares.
This doesn't mean that one fund may not be attempting the strategy you describe, just that it's probably not an across the board thing.
