Looking around the bare gray cement walls of the room, he spotted some bottles in one corner. Three of them. Bottles, not corners. Grimacing (because of the pain any movement caused to his much-abused tongue), he hobbled over for a closer look.

" Conc. Nitric Acid", he whispered softly (not wanting to further injure that sensitive tongue). "Conc. Sulfuric Acid". "Glycerin." "YEAH!" he shouted. (Then SCREAMED when the pain hit him.) "Yeah", he whispered, "yeah. Somebody obviously wanted me to escape. Who could it be?"

He poured out just enough of the Conc. Nitric Acid to make room in the bottle for the other ingredients. The acid smoked and sizzled on the floor, giving off an acrid odor that burned his nostrils. Not that a superhero would be deterred by such a thing, of course.

Then he poured just the right amount of Conc. Sulfuric Acid into the bottle and swirled it. More acrid fumes. And now the critical step. With great care, he slowly poured the glycerin into the mixture, then calmly waited a few minutes for the reaction to complete. Lifting the bottle, he hurled it at the door.

When he came to, he was on a stretcher that was borne by four short people speaking..... Chinese? Chinese!
"How can that be?" he muttered to himself and instantly regretted it as the pain from his mauled tongue hit.

He passed out and when he awoke.....
