Don should stick to gold. The Sixteenth amendment has been court tested and that old game of IRS delegitimizing always gets new suckers tangled in new prosecutions.

As for his survival of the fittest diatribe about Africa and other 'trash', he neglects the obvious fact that aid - whether it's effective or not for the recipients longterm - benefits the giver. In fact, our penchant to aid the weak, the ill and impoverished is what sets us apart from the Wild Kingdom. It's a key trait that makes us human.

And if just one of those mouths fed someday produces a great work or wins a Nobel Prize, I think it's a bargain.
