At the edge of on topic.

6 years ago on US 6 toward & in Black Hawk Central City Colorado 20 years ago there were 5 active / semi-active gold mines & another 5 "pay to pan" riverside places which rented pans gave panning lessons to tourists. Because of the growth of the casino industry there are now 2 semi-alive private mines & only one remaining "pay to pan" operation. One of the remaining two was sold / condemed in the last year & is in the process of becoming the new Gilpin County sewer waste processing site. The casino industry has also taken some land out of gold production (for near all future time) in Cripple Creek Victor CO, mountain cities in South Dakota, & even some of NV.

Did the gambling / casino vote pass in Mexico last month? One thing for sure - if it passes, Some of their casinos will go into the mountains of Mexico..Impact the edges of silver & gold production further? If it happens, it will sure hurt the $US a bit more.
