Don't let the bastards sidetrack you. There is one copper line that goes for one last mile from what is called the "central office" (C/O) to the house.

That line is a public highway. That line was paid for by public funds over the last 130 years. That line is a common carrier. That line is for every one's use. THAT LINE COSTS NOTHING TO TRANSMIT DATA WITH PHONE.

The act said the small isps could install THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT AT THEIR EXPENSE AND USE THAT LINE FOR FREE!!!!!

The phone company convinced the court that it costs $49 a month time 100 MILLION users, just to leave that line in the ground.

that's 4 billion 900 million dollars a month, 58.8 Billion dollars a year, 7 trillion, 644 billion dollars for 130 years.

TOTAL BULLSHIT.

I honestly feel that deregulating the underegulatable is an exercise in futility. Trying to change Ohms Law via fiat is absurd. Trying to pretend that there is more than one phone connection from the CO to the end of the loop is insane.
