Strange Invaders was made in 1983. When AMC did the background on the movie, they said it came out at the same time as ET, which may be why it was unnoticed.

Of the vintage '50s flicks, I most remember Them. And one that I can't ever seem to recall the name of about a space ship that buries itself in the sand on a hill up a path behind a kids' house, and people fall into this sand funnel and end up in the saucer and get something implanted in the backs of their necks. It's something simple like Attack from Mars or some such but I can never remember it.

I missed it when I was a kid, but I have come to appreciate Night of the Triffids, which is now my all time favorite from that era.
