No Jesus, was born like any other human being--covered in placenta and gasping for air, and with y chromosomes from His father. He was born the same way His brothers and sisters were born.
If Mary's conception was not immaculate then Jesus had to be born with ORIGINAL SIN. You can't just spend your life making stuff up. How does making stuff up over and over and over advance a noble agenda? At least the Church of Peter knew that if you are going to invent a virgin birth, you must also invent an Immaculate Conception in order to exclude the child from Original Sin.
Throughout His life He broke many of the ten commandments (for instance, dishonoring his FATHER and MOTHER with rudeness and contemptuousness). He also acted contrary to his own stated precepts.
But, of course, you believe that all of the purported actions of God to advance the fortunes of one tribal community were MORAL actions. UH...HUH.
Why are you so afraid of admitting the horse thief? God had entire communities wiped out. He had the children and woman stolen and enslaved, raped and tortured, etc., etc., etc. And you think by sanitizing the theft of the donkey, that you somehow obliterate all these glorious stories of thievery, rape, and genocide? You expect the rest of the human race to buy into this insanity, and the next time some tyrant (like David, Joshua, or Moses) comes along to make the case that he is "listening to God", we are supposed to close our eyes to every evil deed being committed and simply say: "Oh, this is not evil. This is the will of God. God is not evil. If we rape and steal and murder because God wants us to do so, then we are not being evil."
ORIGINAL SIN? What goes through your mind during the day and the night? I know you don't consider the murders of children in the Middle East to be sinful of evil, because you believe that it is all the will (and the PLAN) of God. Do you understand why many of us are nervous about the way some people process facts and formulate TRUTH? Do you know how abhorrent it is to know that, for much of the world, their moral compass includes any and all behaviours; that there are no REASONS and no RIGHTS for the rest of us to appeal to??
Meanwhile, out of the myriad Christian sects and cults...Divorce is ok, no it isn't. Some abortion is ok; NO abortion is ok. Rest on the sabbath; Don't rest on the sabbath; What day is the sabbath?--Blah, blah, blah. Really, it makes me sick.>>
I remember when this thread was being baptized in the McRitchie constructionist ice waters.
Solon did his part in to melt some of this ice with his hot irons and now I'd say the water is just about right for more of the true acceptance and understanding of what baptism is really all about.
Baptism represents "a new beginning" after a cleansing of the old with fresh running water. Water simply is a correspondence for the spirit of freedom and truth behind our lord's energy, light and love.
There's nothing to defend or judge when it comes to acts of violence and destruction. For the only power that can transcend such madness is the love of God our Father in heaven.
But since these spirits from hell express themselves just as freely and openly through the conduit of mankind's free will our world has had to cycle through waves and waves of these potholes of insanity, madness and destruction. None of this can or should be attributed to our creator for all that's NOT love and NOT light and NOT truth comes from a division or separation from our Father in heaven who is the source of all energy, light, truth and love.
In the end THE TRUTH shall shine for all of mankind to see freely and openly and we will realize that ALL SIDES WILL GO AWAY!!!!! Then all will become ONE (1) once again and The Kingdom of God will reign from sea to shining sea. And there will be great happiness and celebration and lots of singing, dancing and much to be thankful for!!
