Would have to wait after the final...
Up to this point... Let's see... first the nominees (of the surviving teams)
Brazil: Ronaldihno.
For his extraordinary performance against England, managing to finally break a well defended goal, his assistance to Rivaldo in the first goal was not only brilliant but absolutely necessary to open up the space for Rivaldo to score. Then for his incredible shot to the net in the second goal. One can speculate all day long as to whether he meant it that way or not the fact remains it was a great goalazo, the rest is mere speculation. The red card was simply a bad call, Ronaldihno is not a player that would play with ill intent and did not deserved it.
Germany: Kahn
Here I have to say it is close between Miroslav Klose (who is tied with Ronaldo and Rivaldo as top scorers of the cup), then Michael Ballack for scoring the winning goal against the USA and finally Oliver Kahn who has saved the German team in several occasions...
I will say, Kahn for his consistency. Klose, btw has dual citizenship and had he wished to do so, he could have played for Poland. --good thing Poland and Germany never met in this cup.
Korea: Ahn
Simply for his goal against the Italians, which sent them packing, and also for the PK that beat Spain, his coolness will be needed to continue in the fight, finally, for is calm about the reaction of the Perugia chief prima donna who terminated his contract.
Turkey: Recber
For stopping Sudan's Camara's shoot in the dying minutes of regular time which would have sent Senegal to the Semis, instead of Turkey.
And from these 4 I would pick Ronaldihno as I believe he has consolidated this Brazil team. He won't be present against Turkey, but trusting the Brazilians will defeat Them, I am sure he will be ready for the Germans in the final.
After the final, I'll revise this. |
