Monica, Re: "New Pentium 4-M breaks 2GHz barrier"

What happened to the 1900+ Thoroughbred that was supposed to be launched this quarter, according to AMD's previous roadmap?

I did see a mobile Athlon XP based notebook from Sony in the CompUSA flyer this Sunday, but it only runs at 1.3GHz (1500+). It appears that Thoroughbred missed its mark by about 300MHz, or 400+ modelhurts. Now, Intel is not only beating them in megahertz, but vastly in overall performance as well. And this is in contrast to AMD's previous mobile plans, which made it sound like they'd easily take the market from Intel in 2002. It's amazing what happens when hype meets reality. That sound you hear is the collective <sigh> from AMD investors around the world.
