Mike, Sadaam has avoided the use of terror outside of his borders. Even if he gave encouragement prior to 9/11, the world has changed so dramatically since then that a new look is called for. I maintain sadam is most interested now in laying low and guaranteeing his own survival during the post 9/11 period. If the right deal is proposed he will probably take it and separate himself from the crazies and fundamentalists. US/USSR alliance fought hitler. Stalin was or at least tried to be rational vis a vis other countries. Sadaam might be too. The last few posts here regarding US controlling Iraq in lieu of saudi arabia as something more benign to Osama and gang is pure fantasy. In order to offset undue arab influence, US must drill for oil, look for alternative fuels and conserve. Thats the lesson to be learned. Mike
