The company has stated that next year they will be doing field trials of their systems, beta testing. They will also have some propane versions coming out as the propane reformer will be complete by end of Q1. There will be significant testing of systems in house before they are shipped out. To monitor this testing requires a lot of qualified technical people. Now this is from their public statements, it would not surprise me to see stand alone generators shipped for use in remote sites where problems can be handled more easily than a unit in someone's house.

I'm thinking of telecommunication systems for example.

The stock is a screaming buy. They have a paradigm shifting product, their basic TEG business worth a $1.50 per share, cash on hand $3.50 per share + all the SOFC technology and patents. Yet people would rather buy Nortel, JDS, IBM, Intel and a raft of other yesterday stocks.
