The rules have obviously changed not just for telcom but for technology in general. The telcos have taught us how bad debt can be... "Owe no man nothing." certainly has a ring of current wisdom to it... Even companies without any real debt... CSCO, SCMR, etc show that when the rest of the economy is in the hopper there are no exceptions made for special cases. Profit is king and no one company shows much of that lately.

What will it take to see the reversal of current trends? We've started to see the dollar retreat.... Is that a sign of hope for US techs since much of it is based on international markets which should reap lower prices for US goods and services? Interest rates are low but so are CAPEX expenditures... Companies will only spend when they can show real returns in short time frames... Will 3G motivate spending by wireless carriers? Will enterprises adopt 3G because they will enhance communications or will it be too expensive? DSL shows steady growth... will we see DSL begin to overtake cable once someone learns how to easily deploy voice/video/data across dsl networks? Just ramblings based upon the current direction.... UBS is hopeful for a December turn but there is no evidence cited just more hopefulness... Ideas? Thoughts?
