Delphi's $400 Million Deal Will Support New Hyundai Engines
TROY, Mich. (AP) -- Hyundai Motor Corp. has signed a letter of intent to buy $400 million in engine management systems from Delphi Corp. (NYSE:DPH - News) to support the Korean automaker's new V-6 engine, the automotive supplier announced Monday.


Production on the new engine is expected to begin in Korea "in the near future" according to a statement released by Troy-based Delphi.

Until then, the world's largest auto supplier will invest $20 million at three engine management systems facilities in Korea and North America.

Engine management equips and calibrates engines to provide a minimum of exhaust emissions while achieving higher levels of performance and fuel economy.

For Hyundai's V-6 engine, Delphi will provide a powertrain control module and complete engine control system
