:13AM Avista recieves CFTC subpoena (AVA) 12.75: Has received a subpoena from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission , among other things, records related to any "round-trip" trading practices that may have occurred since January 2000. Avista believes it is among a number of firms that have received a similar inquiry.

7:09AM JP Morgan Chase: insurers say co made Enron look healthier than it was (JPM) 32.99: The Wall Street Journal reports that 11 insurance co's said in new legal documents filed Friday that JPM conspired to make Enron look healthier than it was, as part of an effort to cover JPM's exposure to the energy co; the allegation will now become the insurance cos' defense in a legal dispute over who should bear the cost of more than $1 bln in Enron financing.

7:09AM Martha Stewart: WSJ story raises more questions about Imclone trade (MSO) 15.97: The Wall Street Journal, citing people with knowledge of the matter, reports that a Merrill Lynch sales assistant who handled a controversial trade of Imclone stock for Martha Stewart provided new info late last week that contradicts what Ms. Stewart and her broker said about why the stock was sold when it was. The assistant has told Merrill officials he was unaware of any stop-loss agreement when he placed the order to sell Ms. Stewart's stock.
