Hi Bob,
Nice day for COHU and ORCL!
Re: AMD vs. INTC, conversely, I've been an AMD fan. Not necessarily their stock, but of their processors. I'm a computer enthusiast and I find AMD's processors better than Intels. But your right, Intel is the Microsoft of the microprocessor industry and they have the muscle to push little AMD around. Consumers and businesses don't buy chips, they buy computers. The layman, if given a choice, would choose Intel due to name recognition alone. AMD chooses not to focus on the everyday consumer, probably due to lack of resources. In a price war, INTC will certainly outlast AMD and this war may very well be fought until one side is dead. That's why I thought I'd withdraw from the battle and take the tax break.
Washington better rethink this strategy of warning the public on and on and on about possible terrorist threats. It's almost like the want us to stay home, lock our doors, sell our stocks, and watch CNN all day. I've cancelled a summer Las Vegas vacation because I have no confidence in my government protecting me and my family's freedoms. How can I go up in the Stratosphere Tower with confidence?
The Feds should be behind the scenes taking care of these terrorist alerts. Why even warn the public!? I don't believe these terror cells are as prevalent as the news media exerts. I'm sure Bin Laden and his co-thugs are rolling in the floor laughing watching our news every day. They continue to succeed even taking no action.
Now Washington will have to deal with investment and business loss tax shortfalls due to fear they perpetuate. Serves them right! Bully!
