17 June 2002: Iran - Council conclusions

"The Council restates its continued support for the process of reforms in Iran and, in this context, reaffirms its willingness to strengthen relations between the EU and Iran as agreed in May 2001. To this end, the Council has reached a political agreement on negotiating directives for a Trade and Co-operation Agreement with Iran, which is linked to separate instruments on political dialogue and counter-terrorism.
