The corruption I know of in the Olympics is as far as I know is a few individuals and not beyond some individual judges in a particular sport that can be fixed ahead of time.

I saw futbol games How many shots just missed the goal. How many spectacular saves. Each event could have decided the outcome of the game. The nature of the game is that a single goal can win. The comparison between soccer and Ice Skating is absurd.

I can understand a motive in Ice Skating where judges are judging one countrymen.
This can have direct links to funding. I cannot see a motive other than maybe gambling that would play in soccer.

For money in general I'd say that having the US win would benefit FIFA most. If America won, was best at this source of national priide then the resources going to soccer would increase all over the world and in the USA. Also more TV coverage and that is where the big bucks are.

But a couple of bad calls. Give me a break and start thinking clearly.
