Just an illustration but you are welcome anyway.

Let me try another approach. I am not against punishment. I agree that where it can be measured, caution should be taken to see that it is not more than is suitable for the crime. However, I disagree that the central issue should be punishment since human beings greatly vary on how they view their experiences. Some people even see having children as a punisment, for crying out loud. Some people thrive in a prison atmosphere.
