An RPG-7 round weighs about 5 pounds

Actually it's around 7 lbs.. And it's an unguided round.

But you're right... it's a very effective weapon if you know how to shoot it (but I'll defer to Unclewest since I've only spoken with folks who have shot one).

And btw, I could have used an M-203 40mm to shoot down those blackhawks, had I been close enough to take out it's tail rotor (like they did with at least one RPG round).

But my main point was that the larger the rocket is, the more complex and robust must be the guidance and directional system, with the result of added weight.

But I don't ignore the potential threat of such rockets. I'm just saying that the greater threat is posed during take-off, when the engines are producing maximum thrust (and heat). Put that bird at 10-20,000 feet and the heat footprint that it presents, when compared to other nearby sources, will leave this missile redirecting itself towards someone with a cigarette lighter before it ever gets to a jet-liner.
