i would imagine given the complexities encountered in tennis computerizing the line judges, that it might prove to be even more frustrating and difficult in football. The timing of the kick and the run of both the offensive and defensive players... well all players. remember that the goalie counts in this equation (two players back including the keeper)

seriously, i think that technology has brought us to a point where we catch the flaws of the refs... but the game is fine.

Perhaps what has to happen is the realization that it is just a game, relieve the pressure on the refs and players... institute a sense of pride and good sportsmanship (ie rule out diving and cheap plays to gain an advantage) and make the refs job easier by removing the babysitter role from his jersey.

this is the game i have loved my whole life, and i had always played it accepting that the quality of the refs is one of the dynamics involved game to game. i simply deal with it.
