Not too fanciful for me. I'd be curious to hear your speculation on what is going on. I get the same sense of a millenial change in the air.

Similar to Europa in 1914, or Germany 1933. Or possibly a consolidation of empire similar to the era of Frederick the Great from 1848-70.

An Asian example would be the ascension of the samurai class in Japan at the beginning of the 13th Century. In 1192 A.D., Yoritomo became first permanent shogun of Japan and set up his Samurai government in Kamakura.

Interestingly, they were called by two names: Samurai (knights-retainers) and Bushi (warriors). Some of them were related to the ruling class.

Funny how history repeats itself.....
