A management fee might be a good way pay for contracting out some of the labor involved with managing the back office operations of the pool. Who ever does this will either (IMO) want some form of flat fee plus a percentage of the assets under management OR a piece of the action. Of the two methods giving the management company a piece of the pie would give them more incentive to work the hardest for the pool, it just means that everyone who is part of the pool will have to give some of their money. (I do believe that many limited partnerships work in this way.) The pool though may not be able to find a manager willing to take the risk so it may end up paying a flat fee/percent of assets.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone at R&T - one of the reasons I posted their name up here hoping someone else might. The company I work for has a subsidiary that engages in the venture captial arena (where this pool wants to specialize in) BUT they only deal with institutional investors otherwise I would try to get them involved.

I don't remember the names of any of the companies in the trusts run by R&T off hand but when I glanced at this months issue of Ind Inves Magazine (which listed the issues in the trust) I did note that many of them where tech or biotech related.
