Haim, the average person understands WCOM, as they have contact with them through MCI. It is a big story, having dropped in market cap from around #3 to chump change. It is a scandal. People are already in jail from dealings at WCOM. Years from now kids will be reading about this in history books. It plays a huge part on the psychology of the individual investor. Loss of confidence in stocks is what corrections and crashes are all about. Most people don't have a clue what Fannie Mae does. They think that's that chocolate store around the corner.
