WorldCom shares were halted in the pre-open at 14 cents after hitting as low as 9 cents, dealers said. Volume was 13 million on Instinet this morning at that point. The stock hit 25 cents in overnight trade, a 70 percent decline. The Nasdaq 100 tracker (QQQ: news, chart, profile) was last down 4.5 percent at $24.30 on the ECNs - indicating the sentiment for a weak start. The pressure on the QQQs was accelerating as the open neared.
