Dennis: Looks like your INTC prediction was a good one. Even TI that
disappointed and made the market go down so far this morning came back
up so, yes, thank God for Intel and it's positive earnings. There's
an incredibly interesting read on the WSJ about how the minds of some
of these Silicon Valley ceo's work, the article about T. J. Rodgers
and the nun that sent the form letter to his investor relations. His
response was seconded by a lot of his cronies so that tells me only
one thing: small and mid-cap tech companies that are run by people
like that are only destined to get smaller and are good stocks to
avoid. The only one of that type that I have is AMD and I sure will
take Rodgers advice and sell it ASAP and not buy any more. From now
on, I won't by tech unless I first check out the management. I know
that Hewlett-Packard and Motorola are two tech companies that have
excellent management even if their earnings did disappoint so those
are two I've been wanting to buy for a long time but I thought they
got over-priced. Now that they're back to the levels I'd like to pay,
I'm stuck with my lousey portfolio and can't afford to buy. Meanwhile,
I wonder if Rodgers even realizes what an international buffoon he's
made of himself and what a black eye he's given to his already ailing
company. If you haven't read it, it's on today's interactive; you can
pull up the text of the form letter from the nun and the ridiculous
response from Rodgers and also read the even more ridiculous quotes
from Rodgers, calling the nun immoral for sending him the letter, saying
she's not a Christian, and that it's nevertheless a good thing she's
a nun so that some poor man doesn't have to be married to her and put
up with her. What good publicity for the president of Cyrix and what
a fine showing for their investor relations. The fact that his stock
traded as low as 9 1/4 today and his company is having troubles but
he prefers to spend his time dashing to the microscope to inspect the
letter and making his staff do 14 rewrites...incredible!
