Lots of perks come with fame. Maybe there should be some costs. Your argument seems to amount to "If I'm famous, I get a pass on drug laws." I'd say give everyone a pass on drug laws, but if they're on the books, I see no reason a baseball player should be exempt.

there is the occasional high profile case in which a violator who is rich, famous and has a high-priced battery of attorneys is made an example of in the charging so that the accusation can't be made that he or she is receiving preferential treatment.
And, of course, there was OJ, who using "a high-priced battery of attorneys" got away with murder.
