After getting the final clearance from the China Basketball Association and Ming's team the Shanghai Sharks, Ming is free to become the first pick of Wednesday's NBA draft. His No. 1 position is indicative not only of this year's international flavor in the draft, but to the growing number of foreign-born athletes in the NBA -- a fact, according to Marty Burns, that makes foreign scouting a necessity these days.
