| talk about buzzkill .... I understand conservatives reacting to today's court decision, but Perry's faggot comment and Agustus invoking Timothy McVeigh into action sure put a damper on my spirits. Personal beliefs aside, I found it depressing to think that these snide remarks might actually represent what they, and other "right-minded" folks are feeling. From my point of view, it's this type of rhetoric that gives conservatives a bad name, and allows them to be labeled as small minded, intolerant, right-wing, loonies. If you don't like the decision, fine, you can work towards getting it over-ruled - we have a system for that in America, and although it's far from perfect, I'm damn proud of it. In my mind, that's what patriotism is all about about. |
