*OT* Re: >>Good Grief!!! What next???<<

Actually I see why they did this. It is kind of like the give an inch and they take a mile approach. (This should get me hate mail).......

In the military, we are supposed to be neutral yet at every graduation, major air war/campaign launch, dining in, dining out, award ceremony, change of command etc, they always do a prayer and it always mentions Jesus. It is never a Rabbi giving it, it never covers any sect other than Catholics despite us having a rather suprisingly large Islam, Hindu and Jewish population not to mention agnostics and I have even met a few Wickens ( sp?).

I agree with you that banning the pledge is silly but I think they are trying to get their point across after earlier courts were allowing graduation prayers as long as it was given by the valadectorian, football captain and not the staff, allowing bible study on school grounds which then expanded to during class hours as an officailly endorsed "club" like the math club, chess club etc.

I am not an athiest but I am a devil's advocate and have been commenting on the way religion has been getting shoved down people's throats for a while. One of my MAJOR pet peeves is the way we keep telling people to get out of an unstable country and everyone complies except for some dumb missionary trying to nail sandels on the natives feet then expects the military to come in and rescue them when they get arrested, kidnapped or some other bad Ju Ju. Terry Anderson even had the gaul to sue the government for his capture when there had been warnings going to get out for over a year before his capture. Those girls in Afganistan were warned repeatedly and then we had to go get them when they decided to ignore the warnings and do it anyway. Good thing I wasn't the first marine in the door or I would have accidently capped them myself. -NG- Why do we have to put our lives in danger for these idiots? No where in my job description does it cover this? We have enough enemies to deal with without having to play escort for these nut cases.

Anyway, enough ranting. Let the hate mail begin..

Good Luck,

Lee
