Why Schmidt would buy in the open market?

Simple. To make money.

If he perceives the stock is undervalued he should buy, no matter how many shares or options he has. Just like every other insider who makes that decision.

Having lots of shares/options should not be a deterrent to making even more money.

And Don is correct, of course. If the stock gets cheap enough they will all be buying. Until then?

Of course the lag in reporting means we may not know for weeks once they step in.
