WCOM a victim of Clinton's Department of Injustice.

History books are written by the victors. A Washington Post feature on the symbiosis of WorldCom's ex-CEO Bernie Ebbers and its ex-CFO Scott Sullivan gives the last word to an ex-Department of Injustice official who helped doom WorldCom by blocking its acquisition of Sprint in 2000:

"They could predict the future. They were surrounded by advisers who were sycophantic. It was as if they actually believed they were masters of the universe because they had taken this crappy little long-distance company and turned it into something they could call WorldCom. There was this absolutely aggressive kind of hubris that blotted out any sense that maybe they should try to run the company a little bit, take a little money off the table," he said.
