That's a rather biased view, IMO. The author owns IBM and EMC (as disclosed in the article, which is good) but he makes only passing mention of NTAP except to say that the six largest companies (he includes NTAP) control 90% of the storage business. It's the start-ups that will suffer, he says. (I agree.)

He also says the middleware sellers offer innovative alternatives, and then mentions only IBM, omitting BEAS.

In all, not a very enlightening piece.
