Sonki,

You might be interested in reading this article and related links. Talks about the Global shortage of high tech workers, in particular programmers. While I appreciate Mr. Grove's comments, I think it may be a somewhat empty threat especially in light of this business week article.

MSFT as always is working around the problem and will continue to gain ground and increase the gap between it and competitors as supply dwindles. INDIA is mentioned in the article, the surplus of INDIAN software people appears to be over. We can all see the upward price spiral for talent and employee stealing that high tech companies do today. I think I will have to start moonlighting as a programmer to bring in some extra bucks so that I can buy more WINTELCO ;-)

FORGET THE HUDDLED MASSES: SEND NERDS

A critical shortage of programmers has prompted a worldwide labor hunt
businessweek.com

An extract of the part of the article dealing with INDIA:For years, global savants pooh-poohed the pending programmer crunch by pointing to India, which
boasted a seemingly bottomless reserve of techies. India, they said, would be to software what Saudi
Arabia was to oil. And true, with 50,000 programmers pouring out of schools every year--twice the
American total--India is a valuable labor pool.

But with global technology bursting to $3 trillion this decade--four times higher than in the
'80s--India's supply simply isn't enough. And no other plentiful source of software skills appears to
be on the horizon.

PS: Here's hoping for 99 cents for INTC 2d quarter earnings
Regards,
Brian
