Is that the reason Senator Joseph McCarthy was the Godfather of RFK's daughter (the oldest, I think)?

Actually, alot of his (McCarthy's) information was correct. Especially concerning Alger Hiss and other former communist spies in FDR's Administration. The identities of these spies were later confirmed from former KGB Officers. In addition, the FBI had broken Soviet coded messages (regarding Americans spying for the Soviet Union) in the 40's, which meant Hoover was probably feeding McCarthy information. The confirmation, that such highly placed officials in the State Department, were in fact spying for the Soviet Union; gives one a greater appreciation how Stalin was able to "out negotiate" FDR at Potsdam and Yalta.

There is no other group in the 20th Century responsible for more mass murder than Communists.
