Ask the British how they felt about the Jewish freedom fighters in Palestine during the 1940s and they could/would have easily used the term "terrorists" to describe some of the tactics used at that time.

The elementary issue is can today's Palestinians come to grips with the fact that the nation of Israel is here to stay? And just as importantly, can the neighboring Arab nations truly come to grips with the fact that the nation of Israel is here to stay? This country will not be driven into the sea, as many fanatics still insist must happen.

As far as intrinsic rights to exist, every person involved in this conflict should be accorded this same right. What's needed is for both sides to recognize this issue. A new maturity level needs to be reached. The constant eye for an eye, cycle of retaliation must cease. Understanding must be acceptable to both sides. Issues of land rights, displaced persons and immigration must be part of process. Israel must immediately stop building in any occupied territory. STOP. PERIOD. The same can be said for Palestinian bombings. It must stop. Period. Immediately.

You have rightfully pointed out: The terrorist are the enemies of most Palestinians as much as they are enemies of Israel.

In my opinion, Israel should understand that they may have to grant substantial land for peace. Borders need to be drawn, compensation from both sides needs to be appropriately addressed. Both sides will have to deal with displacing parts of their population for ONE FINAL TIME. It's the only way this thing can end. Check points need to be moved, towns may need to be relocated, borders must be drawn. At some point, both sides have to start by accepting the other's intrinsic right to exist and get on with the details.
