Will housewives across the country stop watching or subscribing to Martha?

No...I don't think this will have any effect on the ratings, or sales of MSO. If anything, the entire situation might help to increase her ratings with the T.V. viewers. I expect to see the opening skit of Saturday Night Live with "Martha", chopping lettuce with a huge knife. I don't think I would have asked Martha any aggressive questions while she was upset, and wielding a knife, LOL!

The women's movement (which might be said to dominate the women's press) positively hates her, mostly because they see her as a bad role model.

I agree with you... and with your above perception of how some view Martha. IMO part of the problem all women have with Martha is that her ideas and suggestions in her "Living" magazine are for the most part creative, entertaining, fun, and innovative....but most women don't have a staff of gardeners, housekeepers, home cleaners, and party planners to do the work necessary to complete all of these projects.
