THE DEATH OF COOL

Dear John,

You must be upset. You've violated your own dictum. You wanted politics stripped off this thread and now what have you gone and done what? You've disregarded my pointed post about the confluence of money and politics, slyly posed as a question about that totally apparent manipulation of the stock market over the past couple of days and you've decided to come out with you outrageous, demogogic and illucid attack on the opposing party.

I got news for you John. Intelligent people in this country understand fully and completely that the corporations have bought both political parties, lock stock and barrel. They are both pimping for the most vulgar class of leaders this country has ever produced.

You should be ashamed of yourself for attempting to be so dishonest as to say that Clinton, Rubin and the DLC Dems aren't partners with Bush, Cheney and Greenspan on the greatest assault on morality and values this nation has ever endured.

From the Right, we have the recent Peggy Noonan op/ed piece decrying the moral rot at the top of our society. From the Progressive Left, we have hundreds of commentators decrying the same rot that runs this country.

And yet you small-mindedly come out with you partisan claptrap. Shame on you. You disappoint me completely with that dishonesty.

What we have in this country is a sickness beyond anything the world has probably ever experienced. A bout of greed like none the world has ever seen. It is unseemly, it is disgusting and it is morally and ethically wrong.

And all you can do is to spout some silly shit about partisan politics. You are a complete disappointment. I thought that with all your fancy schooling, with all your fine intellectual ability to understand economics and finance that you had some basic moral compass. I am so sorry to see that there is such a huge void in your soul.

Your fancy sophistry about currencies, forex and markets is meaningless garbage, if you have no soul. And I'm not seeing one.

Sincerely, Ray Duray
