HealthCheck Screening to Offer the CVProfile(TM) Test in Its Community Screening Programs
ST. PAUL, Minn., June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. (Nasdaq: HDII - News), announced today that its CVProfilor® DO-2020 System will become part of HealthCheck Screening, a non-profit community outreach screening program. HealthCheck is headquartered in Lake Oswego, Oregon, and partners with the local AmericanStroke Association and the American Heart Association to conduct health screening programs.
HealthCheck is the leading consumer-direct mobile health screening company in the Pacific Northwest offering three vascular tests, osteoporosis testing as well as cholesterol, glucose and liver function blood tests which are all CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) approved. Through education and affordable non-invasive screenings, HealthCheck's goal is to increase awareness about cardiovascular disease and the steps that an individual can take to determine their risk levels, without a referral from a physician. HealthCheck's screening tests are offered at a variety of venues including churches, community centers, senior centers and athletic clubs as well as through corporate screenings.
"The CVProfilor® System is a great addition to our health programs since it screens for underlying vascular disease at an early age. An average of 15% of all participants screened have a vascular abnormality of some sort which will result in lifestyle modification or other therapeutic intervention, and we encourage all participants to share their results with a physician," said Sheila Goudge, President of HealthCheck Screening, Inc. "Typically, people associate cardiovascular disease with such phrases as: 'it can't happen to me', 'I am not old enough', or 'strokes are for older people', and when our society continues to see younger people such as 33 year-old St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile experiencing a cardiovascular event, we understand the value of health screening programs and preventative tests. The word needs to get out to people at a younger age that there are tests one can take to determine risk levels for cardiovascular disease. Our new relationship with Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. is important as the CVProfilor® System completes the vascular platform of tests that we offer. It is the only FDA cleared device that measures the elasticity of both large and small arteries and it can detect potential underlying cardiovascular disease much earlier than other tests currently available," added Goudge.
