Why is a weak dollar bad for (a) the economy, (b) stocks? I have been around the block and have seen the dollar strong and weak. Balance is key. My belief is that the dollar has been overvalued because of the effects of the bubble and now is just catching up with the reality. The big problem that lies ahead is whether the Bush team can get a handle on budget and trade deficits. Trade deficits should take care of itself with dollar decline. I believe what is necessary is a "War" tax surcharge. That little bit of fiscal responsibility would buoy the markets in my opinion. mike
