I think attributing the drop to the notion that "the street simply doesn't understand the power semi business" could be a dangerous point of view. International Rectifier is a well-known New York Stock Exchange traded stock. The chance "the street" does not understand it's business (and financials) is very small. The possibility that they know more than the average investor is HUGE.

I don't know what caused the precipitous drop, but the amounts of money involved are serious enough that I wouldn't be inclined to blow it off. I hope we know soon, although I'm not sure we'll ever know.
